Manchester residents experienced a tense standoff on Laurel Street yesterday as SWAT teams mobilized to apprehend 41-year-old David Wilson, who was wanted on multiple felony charges. In the culmination of an action that reportedly spanned six hours, the Manchester Police utilized significant resources, including negotiators and chemical munitions, to engage with and eventually capture the suspect without further incident.
According to a social media post from the Manchester NH Police, the scene unfolded at 442 Laurel St where Wilson, who is without a set address, failed to heed calls to surrender. After deploying tactical measures, the SWAT team entered the residence, discovering Wilson concealed within an eave on the second floor, and a small bundle of crack cocaine in Wilson's sock was located.
Additional discoveries at the residence included a loaded 9mm firearm and substances suspected to be heroin and fentanyl. Wilson now faces an array of charges: Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Drug, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Felonious Use of a Firearm, and Armed Career Criminal. The operation, marked by its intensity and potential for violence, was resolved with patience and without harm to officers or civilians.
Chief Peter Marr expressed satisfaction with the handling of the situation. "I am very pleased with this outcome. Given Wilson's criminal history and the suspected drug activity at the residence, the situation had the potential to turn violent," Marr said, as noted by the Manchester NH Police. "Our SWAT personnel and officers on scene responded with patience, professionalism, and a methodical approach, making every effort to negotiate a safe surrender." Additionally, Marr thanked neighbors for their patience while the police dealt with the situation, locating Wilson hiding inside the home and taking him into custody without further incident.
