
Last night in Norwood turned violent when a 27-year-old man was held at gunpoint inside his parked car on Perry Avenue, and one of the attackers fired at the vehicle, police and the victim said. The man told reporters he had pulled over near 3327 Perry Avenue to chat with a friend when two masked people walked up on his car and demanded cash, as reported by Norwood News. During the confrontation, one suspect allegedly fired at the car, sending a round through the passenger side that pierced the engine. The driver was not hurt and later said he handed over roughly $2,000 in cash.
The incident unfolded at about 8:08 p.m., according to a police spokeswoman cited by the local outlet, which reported that officers quickly moved in and taped off Perry Avenue between the crime scene and East 209th Street while investigators documented the shooting and robbery.

Detectives are still working the case and, as of the initial report, had not announced any arrests. Police are asking anyone who might have seen what happened, or who has relevant video, to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers program.

Residents at the scene reported seeing young people in ski masks lingering near the police cordon as officers investigated. The victim, reflecting on the incident, said he was in shock after coming so close to serious harm.
