Michigan's Department of Transportation (MDOT) has opened a digital floor for its citizens to voice concerns and offer suggestions on how to improve transportation safety within the state. In a recent push, MDOT made it known through an announcement that it seeks public input via an online survey which will factor into the updates for the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) and Vulnerable Road User Safety Assessment (VRUSA).

Focusing on reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries, MDOT urges Michigan residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to complete the survey, which runs from January 29 to March 15. For assistance, contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462.

The SHSP and VRUSA aim to improve roadway safety for all users. Developed by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission, the SHSP is a four-year, data-driven plan that identifies key safety needs and guides investments to reduce highway fatalities and serious injuries.

Michigan residents are encouraged to participate in the road safety survey and support the state’s Toward Zero Deaths initiative. Feedback can be submitted online, by email to Monica Monsma at [email protected], or by U.S. mail.
