The Michigan State Police Grants and Community Services Division has opened applications for up to $450,000 in funding to support communication training for law enforcement agencies. The funding is part of Michigan’s fiscal year 2026 budget, as per the Michigan State Police release.
The grants are intended to help agencies improve communication with limited English-speaking residents and individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Funds may be used for program and operational expenses related to training.
MSP Director Col. James F. Grady II said effective communication is an essential part of policing and that the training will help officers better serve the public.
Grant applications must be submitted to the MSP Grants and Community Services Division by noon EST on April 1, 2026. Application details and eligibility requirements are available on the Michigan State Police website.
