Stone Oak just landed a big, boil-heavy seafood player. Mr. Crabby’s Seafood Kitchen has officially opened along North Loop 1604, taking over the former Tomatillos building and serving its first plates in early January. The Cajun-style spot is built for both family dinners and louder night-out groups, with seafood boils, po’boys, gumbo and a full bar headlining the action.
According to Community Impact, Mr. Crabby’s opened on Jan. 9 and is owned by John Zheng. The outlet reports a menu stacked with Cajun classics, fried seafood baskets and a cocktail roster that leans on hurricanes and flavored margaritas. Community Impact lists the Stone Oak address as 1827 N. Loop 1604.
What's on the menu
Per the restaurant’s own site, the kitchen builds around seafood boils and Creole-influenced plates that include crawfish étouffée, gumbo, fried gator and po’boys. Starters range from hushpuppies and calamari to fried mozzarella, and fried seafood baskets are on deck for more low-key orders. The website notes a full bar with beer and wine plus margaritas in multiple flavors, as outlined on Mr. Crabby's website.
The space and neighborhood
The new outpost moved into the former Tomatillos building off 281 and Loop 1604, and the interior leans into Bourbon Street vibes, with room for live music, multiple bars and a courtyard, as reported by MySA. That preview notes murals and family-friendly touches, including a playground, added as construction wrapped last year. The location is positioned to catch both weeknight dinner traffic and weekend visitors heading to nearby retail and entertainment spots.
Hours, reservations and practicals
The Stone Oak restaurant lists daily opening hours starting at 11:30 a.m., closing at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Reservations and online ordering are available through the restaurant’s site, which also promotes catering and private-party bookings for the space. For details and table reservations, see Mr. Crabby's website.
Mr. Crabby’s joins a growing roster of Cajun and seafood-focused restaurants on the North Side, giving families and groups another option for boils and Southern-style plates. Early customer reviews are still coming in, and the owners are leaning on weekend nights and live music to build a regular crowd. We will update this space if the restaurant rolls out special events or opening-week promotions.
