On Thursday last week, Haven Patterson, 43, of New Orleans, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for illegal firearm possession as a convicted felon. Patterson will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, as ordered by U.S. District Judge Wendy B. Vitter, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana announced.

Court documents show that on February 27, 2025, Patterson was found in possession of a loaded .40 caliber and a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun. As a convicted felon, he was prohibited from owning firearms, making his possession a violation of federal law.

The case was part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America, which targets illegal firearms possession, organized crime, and violent crime. The investigation was conducted by the FBI, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chandra Menon of the Public Integrity Unit.
