The Oklahoma House Democratic Caucus has outlined policy priorities aimed at increasing affordability for families in the state. The proposals focus on wages, utilities, insurance, and education. Representative Cyndi Munson, D-Oklahoma City, highlighted the challenges many Oklahomans face in meeting basic needs, with nearly half of working families juggling multiple jobs, according to the Tulsa Area United Way.

According to the Oklahoma House of Representatives release, key legislation includes HB 2230, which would set the state minimum wage at the higher of $15 per hour or the federal minimum wage. HB 3392, introduced by Representative Amanda Clinton, D-Tulsa, would investigate how large-scale projects affect the electric grid to ensure residents do not bear extra costs. Other bills include HB 4286, limiting the use of credit scores in insurance pricing, HB 3384, capping homeowner’s policy renewal increases, and HB 3675, requiring human oversight of AI-processed health insurance claims. HB 3959 would prevent algorithm-based pricing disparities.

Education is also addressed through HB 3684, which would revoke the Parental Choice Tax Credit and redirect the funds to public schools. Lawmakers say this could support improvements in education funding and student outcomes statewide.
