Oklahoma poultry farmers will receive $25.5 million to settle the long-running Oklahoma v. Tyson Foods, Inc. case. The settlement resolves litigation between the state and meat companies Tyson Foods and Cargill, the Oklahoma Senate announced.
Sen. Tom Woods said the agreement allows poultry producers to operate and expand their farms with greater certainty, ending years of legal uncertainty. The settlement provides assurance that contracts and income for farmers are protected.
In addition to financial compensation, the settlement includes measures aimed at environmental protection and supporting rural communities that rely on the poultry industry, ensuring both economic and ecological considerations are addressed.
