Senate Bill 2108, sponsored by Sen. Dusty Deevers, R-Elgin, advanced through the Senate Agriculture and Wildlife Committee to simplify feral hog hunting in Oklahoma. The bill would remove state licensing requirements for hunting feral hogs while maintaining certain protections during deer gun season, as per the Oklahoma Senate release.
The legislation also eliminates the state permit for nighttime hunting with landowner permission, allowing the use of thermal imaging and night vision. Aerial hunting would be allowed under standard FAA rules without additional state permits or liability insurance requirements.
Feral hogs cause over $100 million in damages annually in Oklahoma. Senate Bill 2108 now moves to the full Senate for consideration.
