It was a scene of well-earned celebration last Friday, as the City of Piedmont took a night off to honor the workers who keep their community ticking. In an evening that stepped out of the usual grind, the city's 4th Annual Employee Awards Banquet shone a spotlight on commitment and service. According to a Facebook post by the City of Piedmont, the get-together was an occasion to mingle with coworkers and families, and more importantly, to celebrate the dedication that propels the city forward.
Special recognition was given to the employees marking significant service milestones: Valorie Cumming and Deborah Sterling, each with a decade under their belts, and Fire Chief Andy Logan, boasting a sterling 15 years of paid service with a grand total of 25 years of dedication. In a rather casual twist, Mark Jeans bagged the 2025 Employee of the Year accolade, albeit via FaceTime while on vacation no less, as reported by the City of Piedmont.
The city’s recognition of its staff didn’t stop with handing out awards. The celebration also honored a team that stepped up in 2025, took on new roles, faced challenges, and kept the city moving forward. City leaders said employees answered the call “every time” and thanked both them and their families for their support.
Piedmont’s night of appreciation showed how much the city values its workforce. It was a reminder that behind every service and daily task are dedicated people working hard to make the city #bettereveryday.
