Just after 4 a.m. yesterday, a group of masked thieves turned a quiet stretch next to Lumen Field into their own highlight reel, smashing into a nearby sports shop and hauling away more than $50,000 in Seattle Seahawks gear.
Surveillance video from the scene shows three masked suspects forcing their way through the front door, grabbing boxes of jerseys and sideline apparel, then walking out the same way they came in. The break-in left the shop with several thousand dollars in damage and its doors shut while detectives canvassed the area.
According to the Seattle Police Department blotter, patrol officers were called to a reported burglary in the 1000 block of 1st Avenue South shortly after 4 a.m. Staff told officers that the footage showed three masked suspects breaking in through the front door and leaving with merchandise before police arrived. The department pegged the property damage at about $2,300, listed the case under incident number 2026-30575, and asked anyone with information to contact the SPD non-emergency line.
Where All That Seahawks Swag Was Sitting
The hit shop sits right next to Lumen Field, home to the Seahawks' official Pro Shop and other retailers that stock licensed jerseys, hats, and sideline gear. That kind of merchandise carries a high resale value, which makes stadium-adjacent storefronts tempting targets for fast smash-and-grab burglaries during the quiet overnight hours. The team's in-stadium retail footprint is laid out on the Seahawks Pro Shop page.
Part Of A Bigger Hit On Sports And Retail
The burglary fits into a broader pattern of high-value retail thefts and coordinated shoplifting rings that have surfaced around the Puget Sound region in recent years. Investigators have pointed to quick, organized tactics that can net tens of thousands of dollars in goods in a single run. Local coverage has documented cases where suspects walked away with more than $50,000 from multiple retail locations, highlighting just how large these operations can get. As KIRO 7 has reported, officers sometimes work across city lines and partner with loss-prevention teams to track crews that hit stores in several jurisdictions.
How You Can Help Investigators
Detectives with SPD's West Precinct are handling the investigation and say no arrests have been made so far. Anyone with tips, security video, or dash-cam footage from the area is asked to call the SPD non-emergency line at 206-625-5011 and reference incident number 2026-30575.
