A Queens family was shattered on Sunday morning when a man reportedly attacked his wife and two children before taking his own life. The altercation began with a disagreement involving the 53-year-old father and his teen son and escalated rapidly to violence in their Glen Oaks home, just before 10:30 a.m., according to PIX11.

Police were called to the scene at 80-47 268th St., a neighborhood known for its upscale homes, to find a distressing tableau. Tragically, the father inflicted injuries upon himself, with wounds to the throat and stomach, after assaulting his family. He later succumbed to these injuries in the hospital. His wife, 52, suffered a head injury, while his 21-year-old daughter sustained a hand injury, and his 15-year-old son was struck in the head with a dumbbell. Found at the scene were the dumbbell and a knife, which were used in the attacks.

Roy Victorio, the assailant, was identified by authorities but engaged in a gruesome act that contradicted the otherwise calm image neighbors had of him. A source told the New York Post how they had "never heard screaming" from the seemingly peaceful house. Another neighbor recounted the shock of the ambulance's arrival, struggling through snow, to offer aid. "I was sitting on the couch and I looked up and I said 'holy s–t!' I saw the ambulance struggling through the snow to get to the house."

Neighbors recalled Victorio as a fixture in the community, known for his friendly greetings during jogs. However, another long-time resident revealed that not all was well in the past, marking a stark contrast to the family's public facade of domestic tranquility. "They had a problem before. A couple months ago, the cops came," Angelo Durso, 70, told the New York Post. Despite this previous encounter, the depth of the issues within the household was not fully apparent until the eruption of Sunday's violence.

The surviving family members are currently receiving medical care for their injuries. As reported by PIX11, the wife and children were treated at local hospitals, with the wife and daughter in stable condition at North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health, and the son at Long Island Jewish Medical Center at Northwell Health. The investigation remains ongoing, with no arrests made at this time.
