Two Memphis brothers are headed to prison for decades after pleading guilty Thursday in a deadly home robbery that left Marcus Davis dead and a woman hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Prosecutors say the pleas and sentences bring closure to a case that began with a break-in during the summer of 2020.
According to a Facebook post from the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, Antonio Bowden pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder, and especially aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 33 years without the possibility of parole. His brother, Jarvis Bowden, also pleaded guilty and received a 25-year sentence with no parole. The office named Assistant District Attorney Mark Bowman and Deputy District Attorney Paul Hagerman as the prosecutors on the case and said a third co-defendant is set for trial in April.
How prosecutors say the robbery unfolded
Police say the suspects forced their way into a home near Raines Road and Hickory Hill on July 23, 2020, and that surveillance footage with audio captured four men inside for nearly an hour before shots were fired, according to Action News 5. Officers found a man unresponsive and a woman bleeding; the man was later identified as Marcus Davis and pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was rushed to the hospital.
Sentences and what's next
The DA's post identified the surviving victim as Jasmine Jones and said the guilty pleas spare family members the ordeal of a trial while ensuring lengthy prison terms for the two men. Prosecutors said they will continue to pursue the third defendant when that trial begins in April.
The no-parole terms mean both men will serve the full sentences imposed by the court. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office said the case was the result of a multi‑agency investigation and that it will provide updates as the remaining case moves through the calendar.
