Milwaukee Public Schools announced that registration for the city’s Summer Academy opens tomorrow. The program runs from July 6 through July 30 and is open to students from kindergarten through high school. Courses include art, music, academic enrichment, and lifeguard training.
According to the Milwaukee Public Schools, classes will be held at select schools across the city, with registration available through June 1. Some courses may reach capacity before the deadline. Students in K5 through grade 4 with personal reading plans are strongly encouraged to enroll. Older students may participate to earn credits or prepare for the upcoming school year. The program also offers Extended School Year services, bilingual options, and Montessori programs.
Students age 15 and older may enroll in a lifeguard training course that provides American Red Cross certification upon completion. Younger students can participate in activities such as soccer, flag football, reading clubs, and crochet.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to enrolled students. Milwaukee Recreation will offer additional childcare and recreational programming in the afternoons. More information is available by calling (414) 475-8180 or visiting mpsmke.com/summeracademy. The program is free for Milwaukee residents, with fees required for non-residents.
