San Antonio woke up today to a low gray ceiling and temperatures hovering near 60°F at dawn. Patchy fog settled into low‑lying neighborhoods and river valleys, trimming visibility on some local streets. By mid‑morning, though, the sun is expected to punch through, sending afternoon highs into the low 80s.
Foggy Morning, Sunny Afternoon
Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Tuesday could make ramps and surface streets tricky, so drivers may want to tack on a few extra minutes for the commute. Once the fog lifts, skies should turn mostly sunny by midday, with a high near 83°F and little chance of rain through the afternoon.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Southerly breezes will ramp up later in the day, generally 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph across most of the city. According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, gusts could top 30 to 40 mph on hilltops and ridgelines in the Hill Country, which would create locally elevated fire‑weather concerns in the western outskirts.
What This Means For Your Plans
The morning fog is the big travel issue, so use headlights and give yourself extra stopping distance if visibility drops. With warm, dry afternoons paired with gusty southerly winds, it is a good day to secure patio furniture and skip outdoor burning in brush‑prone areas until conditions back off.
Looking Ahead
The warm stretch is expected to hold through Thursday before a front arrives late Friday into Saturday and knocks temperatures back into the 60s for the weekend. We covered the early‑week warmth in more detail in our look at February pulling a spring stunt report, and forecasters note a modest chance of a brief cooler period late Sunday into Monday, with the Hill Country seeing the lowest overnight readings.
