The Shrewsbury Police Department has been busy addressing a variety of traffic violations and crimes between February 9th and 15th. Noteworthy incidents involved multiple cases of drivers operating vehicles without proper documentation and insurance, leading to a series of arrests.
According to a recent report by the Shrewsbury Police Department, on February 9, an officer stopped a vehicle sans license plates, finding the driver with a suspended license and the car uninsured. The result was an arrest with the vehicle impounded - otherwise referred to in the report as the car going to "car jail." A similar event unfolded on the same day when another repeat offender was pulled over for the same reasons, leading to another arrest and impounded vehicle.
Abandoned cars also made the list of concerns for the Shrewsbury PD that week. A vehicle with neither license plates nor an identifiable owner was discovered sporting broken glass on Brunswick Avenue. Despite no reports of the car being stolen or wanted, it was slapped with a Tow Warning sticker and subsequently towed on February 11th after no action was taken to remove it.
In a separate incident, a follow-up from a previous week's altercation led to the apprehension of a suspect related to a pepper spray incident at a local Walmart. "The case will be forwarded to the Saint Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges," detailed by the Shrewsbury Police Department's public report. Other notable infractions included a driver with expired plates and no insurance on Valentine’s Day, resulting in both person and car taken into custody.
The week’s activities weren’t solely about car-related crimes. Between the aforementioned dates, officers also responded to 14 auto accidents, five calls regarding suspicious activity, and five theft reports. Supporting the local Fire Department, they assisted with 25 calls and carried out 115 traffic stops overall, revealing a demanding period for Shrewsbury’s law enforcement. With the area's policing consistently vigilant, public safety takes the forefront in the community, despite the continued occurrence of such traffic infractions.
