In an effort to provide relief from the chilling grasp of winter, St. Johns County has announced through its Continuum of Care that the COLD NIGHT SHELTER will usher in guests seeking warmth and safety starting Monday, February 2nd. As temperatures take a dive, Grace United Methodist Church, located at 8 Carrera St., opens its doors—marked distinct by their signature red—to those in need at 8:00 p.m.
The social media post from St. Johns County Continuum of Care, not only informed residents of the shelter's reopening, but also extended gratitude to those dedicating their time and effort. "A special thank you to the volunteers who are working overnight to host our shelter guests," conveys a community interlinked by compassion and practical assistance in times where the mercy of the climate falls short. The initiative underscores a vital communal support system intended to shield its most vulnerable members from the harsh elements, exemplifying local humanitarian efforts.
For those looking to pass along this critical information or inquiring about the shelter services themselves, the Continuum of Care has provided a resource in the form of a hotline—(904) 819-4344.
