The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reported that two deputies rescued three hunters stranded in icy conditions on a duck hunting trip. According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, the incident occurred on a Saturday morning last week when the boat’s anchor slipped, leaving the hunters nearly two miles from their original location in a marsh with temperatures below freezing and winds around 25 mph.

Deputy Joey Schwindling from the Marine Division conducted the rescue around 8:30 a.m. in the Goose Point area of Lacombe. He retrieved all three hunters safely. Deputy Schwindling and Sergeant Jared Mire then recovered the unmanned boat and returned it to the owners.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office acknowledged the deputies’ actions on Facebook, highlighting their efforts during the rescue.
