
The Statesville Police Department has recently unveiled their 2025 Annual Crime Report, citing some shifts in local crime statistics. Chief David Onley presented the findings to the Statesville City Council on Monday, showcasing an overall decrease in violent crime by 1.35% and a significant drop in burglary and breaking and entering incidents, which plummeted by 36.31% when compared to the previous year's figures. Traffic stops have quickly to double in number, and officers successfully seized 35 firearms through increased proactive enforcement efforts by the Crime Reduction Team.
According to the department's social media post, officer-initiated activity has surged by nearly 24%, an indicator of the SPD's dedication to proactive policing strategies. Additionally, the SPD's community outreach was marked by success during the holidays, as the SPD Toy Drive managed to serve over 625 children. With more than 78,000 calls for service handled in 2025, the department stresses their commitment to serving the community with ongoing professionalism and dedication.
The crime report highlights progress across various divisions including Patrol, CID, Telecommunications, Records, Traffic, Evidence, and Community Services. "We are proud of the hard work across every division," the department stated on Facebook. They also extended gratitude towards the community's ongoing support.
