Stephen L. Warden has been named Judicial District Manager for Judicial District 21, overseeing Community Supervision operations in Forsyth County, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) announced. Warden began managing 92 probation and parole officers and staff on Monday, overseeing more than 2,600 individuals on probation, parole, or post-release supervision.

NCDAC Secretary Leslie Cooley Dismukes said in a press release that Stephen Warden has consistently brought people together and built strong teams focused on creating safer communities. Having served in Forsyth County and Division 3, Warden’s years of leadership reflect his ongoing commitment to improving the justice system.

Warden, a longtime figure in the field, began his career in 2001 as a probation/parole officer in Forsyth County. Over the next 12 years, he managed a variety of cases in both Forsyth and Catawba counties. In 2013, he was promoted to chief probation/parole officer and later to assistant judicial district manager in Forsyth County. Since 2023, Warden served as AJDM for District 22, which includes Alexander, Davidson, Davie, and Iredell counties.

In a press release, NCDAC Chief Deputy Secretary for Community Supervision Tracy K. Lee said Warden’s years of dedicated leadership in Forsyth County and Division 3 made him an ideal choice for JDM in District 21. Warden holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UNC-Charlotte and a master’s degree in public administration from UNC-Greensboro, complementing his extensive experience in the field.
