In recognition of National Missing Persons Day, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney has released a public request for assistance in identifying the remains of several unidentified individuals connected to ongoing investigations. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is featuring two cold cases, Medford Jane Doe and Bellport Jane Doe, on its website. Updated images and case information are being shared to support identification efforts and potentially generate new leads.
District Attorney Tierney urged the public to review the available information and examine the new renderings of the victims. He emphasized that no tip is too small, noting that even a minor detail could assist in providing answers to the families. The statement highlights ongoing efforts to advance these long-standing cases.
Specific updates have been made in the cases of Medford Jane Doe, a victim of serial killer Robert Shulman discovered in 1994, and Bellport Jane Doe, also known as Marie or Maria, who was murdered by her landlord Arthur Kinlaw in 1983. Genetic genealogy has traced Medford Jane Doe’s Caucasian ancestry, with connections to England, Scotland, and Wales. A clay reconstruction and composite sketch have been created to assist with identification. Renewed sketches have also been released for Bellport Jane Doe, a Black or Hispanic woman, to support efforts to identify her.
The Medford Jane Doe, discovered dismembered in a blue Rubbermaid garbage can, had identifiable markings, including a tattoo on her upper left shoulder with the name Adrian. Updated information on both victims, along with case summaries, is available on the District Attorney's website, where visitors can view the new sketches and submit tips confidentially.
