
A Tangipahoa Parish man has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Garrett McClain Jr., 24, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Barry Ashe and faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, with a potential maximum sentence of life, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana announced.
McClain was indicted for drug distribution activities in Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, and Washington Parishes that continued through at least June 26, 2025. Following a high-speed chase, he was apprehended carrying 226 grams of methamphetamine, 336 grams of marijuana, and 77 grams of fentanyl.
The case involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the DEA’s Fentanyl Overdose Response Team, the Hammond Police Department, and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sentencing is scheduled for May 7, and could include fines up to $10,000,000 and at least five years of supervised release.
