Three veterans recently graduated from the Cobb County Veterans Accountability and Treatment Court (VATC) at the Cobb County Superior Court Building. The program provides support for ex-military personnel dealing with issues such as substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. Since its start on June 13, 2014, 72 veterans have successfully completed the 18-24 month program, as per the Cobb County website.

VATC offers services including counseling, job training, and structured accountability, designed to reduce recidivism and support veterans in reintegrating into the community.

During the ceremony, Judge Reuben Green, the program’s founder, was honored with a portrait in the courtroom. Superior Court Judge Robert D. Leonard recognized Judge Green’s contributions to the program.

The program also includes a Mentor Program, pairing veterans who have completed VATC or are honorably discharged with current participants to provide guidance and support throughout the program.

Graduates of the program complete their participation with resources and support to help them reintegrate into the community and pursue personal and professional opportunities.
