Detroit’s southwest side is reeling after a triple homicide on Edsel Street, where police spent Wednesday combing through a crime scene in the 3100 block and collecting evidence. Investigators have not released the victims’ names, how they were killed, or any projected timeline for the case.
As first reported by FOX 2 Detroit, officers were focused on gathering evidence at the Edsel Street location while the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit leads the investigation. Officials have not publicly identified any suspects, and the circumstances surrounding the killings remain unclear.
How to help
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Detroit Police Department Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260. Tipsters can also share information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Per the City of Detroit’s Detroit Rewards TV, the city posts instructions on how to submit tips and occasionally offers rewards in cases involving violent crimes. Those who come forward can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest or criminal charges.
Why it matters
The triple killing lands at a time when Detroit has been seeing fewer homicides overall. The city recorded 165 criminal homicides in 2025, its lowest total in decades, according to Axios. City leaders and law enforcement have credited joint enforcement work and community violence-intervention efforts for helping push those numbers down.
What we don't know
Key details are still missing. Authorities have not yet released the victims’ identities, the cause or causes of death, or whether anyone is in custody. The Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to lead the probe and is urging anyone with information to speak up.
FOX 2 Detroit reports that it will update its coverage as new information becomes available.
