A routine grocery run in West Allis ended with a serious cash surprise when a shopper picked up a Platinum Payout Fast Play ticket worth $112,668. The ticket hit on Thursday, Feb. 26, and the buyer scored 100% of that day's Fast Play Progressive Jackpot. The Wisconsin Lottery has not yet released the winner's name.
According to FOX6 Milwaukee, the winning ticket was sold at the Pick 'n Save located at 108th Street and Cleveland Avenue in West Allis. The station, citing information from the Lottery, reported that the winning play was a Platinum Payout Fast Play ticket and confirmed that the buyer took the full jackpot rather than a split share.
How Fast Play Works
The Wisconsin Lottery explains that all Fast Play tickets feed into a single progressive jackpot that starts at $10,000 and keeps climbing until a winning ticket is sold. The portion of the jackpot a player can win depends on the ticket price. A $10 Fast Play ticket wins 100% of the current jackpot, while cheaper tickets are worth smaller percentages. The Lottery lists the odds of hitting the progressive jackpot at roughly 1 in 240,000. Its site also posts full game rules and up-to-date jackpot totals for each Fast Play title.
Retailer Bonus And The Store
FOX6 Milwaukee also noted that Wisconsin Lottery retailers earn a 2% Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive when they sell winning tickets worth more than $599, with that bonus capped at $100,000. The Pick 'n Save at 2625 S. 108th St. is the store identified in coverage. At 2% of $112,668, the retailer would be in line for about $2,253.36. Store staff have not made any public comments about the lucky sale, according to the station.
How To Claim And What Comes Next
The Wisconsin Lottery advises winners to immediately sign the back of their ticket and follow official claim instructions. In general, players have 180 days from the ticket or draw date to claim prizes. According to the Lottery's guidance, prizes from $600 to $199,999 can be claimed by mail or in person at Lottery offices in Madison or Milwaukee. Prizes of $200,000 or more must be claimed in person at the Madison office.
The Lottery also cautions winners to watch out for scams and urges anyone with questions about their ticket or the claiming process to contact Lottery staff directly.
