Detectives determined the woman had been shot, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The outlet identified the suspect as 21-year-old Rontrell Jackson and reported that investigators classified the case as a homicide.
Booking Records Confirm Murder Charge
The Arlington Police Department’s online jail roster lists JACKSON, RONTRELL on a murder charge, with an arrest entry dated March 20, 2026. The entry states he was turned over to Tarrant County for further processing, according to the department’s inmate list. The APD listing includes a case number tied to the homicide investigation and shows Jackson was booked on a Section 19.02 murder charge. At the time of reporting, formal charging documents and an arraignment date had not yet appeared in public court records.
Detectives Say Argument Over Allowance Led to Shooting
Investigators said the confrontation began inside the apartment and escalated after what they described as a heated argument over Jackson’s allowance money. Jackson admitted he shot the woman Friday morning before dragging her body to the patio, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. Police said they recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting from inside the residence. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity, citing the need to notify additional relatives and complete investigators’ interviews.
Legal Implications
Jackson faces one count of murder under Texas law, an offense that is generally a first-degree felony punishable by a term of years or life imprisonment. The statute and penalties are set out in Section 19.02 of the Texas Penal Code. See Section 19.02 of the Texas Penal Code for the statutory language. Prosecutors in Tarrant County will review the investigative file and decide on final charges and any potential enhancements as the case moves forward.
The investigation remains active, and Arlington homicide detectives say they are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Jackson is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court. Officials are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Arlington Police Department.
