Early Sunday morning in Apollo Beach, deputies say gunfire tore through the front door of a home on Lookout Drive, leaving a woman wounded and a 37-year-old man under arrest.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. on March 29. Deputies say Luis Enrique Gutierrez Rosaly fired multiple rounds through the front door of the home, hitting a woman who was taken to a hospital for treatment. They located and detained Gutierrez Rosaly near the scene shortly after.
In its online post, the sheriff's office said Gutierrez Rosaly was charged with attempted second-degree murder and several related felonies, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into a building, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more and tampering with physical evidence. Deputies said they recovered a firearm from his vehicle and that the victim was struck in the thigh. The agency posted the notice on March 30, 2026, as the investigation continued.

Scene and investigation
Detectives and crime scene technicians worked the scene on Lookout Drive, canvassing nearby homes and processing evidence while neighbors woke up to a heavy law enforcement presence. The case remains active, and investigators are still piecing together what led up to the gunfire.
The arrest comes amid other recent shootings in the South Shore area. Earlier this month, deputies investigated an overnight Apollo Beach/Ruskin shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured, as reported by FOX 13 Tampa Bay. Authorities in the Lookout Drive case have not released a possible motive.
Charges and legal stakes
Gutierrez Rosaly faces attempted second-degree murder along with the slate of related felonies that prosecutors can pursue in the 13th Judicial Circuit. Under Florida law, a felony of the second degree carries a maximum prison term of up to 15 years, according to the Florida Senate. These remain allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
What happens next
Gutierrez Rosaly remains in custody while detectives continue their probe and the State Attorney's Office reviews the case for formal filing decisions. In its public post, the sheriff's office asked anyone with information to contact HCSO. Officials have not yet released booking or bond details.
