The spARK Labs by ARK Invest, the ARK-backed incubator in St. Petersburg’s Innovation District, has officially run out of office suites, now packed with 45 early-stage companies and a growing waitlist. CEO Becca Brown said the milestone arrived faster than anyone planned, a sign of red-hot demand from AI and life-science founders. While the private offices are spoken for, the incubator is still offering co-working and dedicated desk options as it ramps up member programming.

As reported by the St. Pete Catalyst, Brown called the moment "It's a really exciting milestone" and noted that spARK Labs hit capacity ahead of schedule, even though memberships are structured around 12-month terms. The Catalyst also reports that a waitlist has formed and that some companies may "outgrow the space" while others stay longer, with co-working and dedicated desk memberships still available as the center scales up its programming.

What spARK Labs Offers Startups

spARK Labs operates inside the ARK Innovation Center at 1101 4th Street S., where founders can tap into lab space, workshops and mentorship focused on AI, robotics, energy storage, digital assets and multiomics. According to spARK Labs, the nonprofit pairs curated programming with ARK Invest’s research network to help early-stage teams move from early prototype to investor-ready products.

Moffitt Partnership Brings Oncology AI Talent

Moffitt Cancer Center has announced a collaboration that will colocate its researchers at spARK Labs and launch Speros by Moffitt in St. Pete, putting oncology AI work in the middle of the incubator community. The release notes that founders based at the center will be able to collaborate with Moffitt scientists and ARK’s multiomics biology team, further sharpening the incubator’s life-science edge.

Why This Matters for St. Pete

The rapid fill-up comes on the heels of ARK Invest’s relocation to St. Petersburg in 2021, a move local economic development leaders say boosted the city’s visibility for both investment and talent, according to the St. Pete EDC. The ARK Innovation Center itself is a roughly 45,000-square-foot facility that opened in January 2024 and was built to house prototyping labs, event space and dozens of startups, as reported by the Business Observer.

What’s Next

Brown said spARK Labs will keep layering on programming, from pitch practice sessions to Lunch and Learns, while it manages office turnover and the waitlist. The incubator has already hosted Innovation Showcases and weekly member brainstorms this year, with Eventbrite listings showing a steady stream of member-focused events on the calendar.
