El Paso County is calling residents back to the table for a second community meeting on the Ascarate Park renovations project on Tuesday, March 24 at 6 p.m., again at the Ascarate Park Pavilion. County staff says they will walk through what they heard in the first round of outreach, show off new visual concepts, and dig into the key themes that will guide the next phase of design. The follow-up session comes as the project shifts from planning into formal design under the voter-approved 2024 capital improvement bond.
What's Planned For The Park
Ascarate's overhaul falls under Proposition A of the county's 2024 Capital Improvement Bond, which earmarks money for parks and recreation projects across the county. As outlined by El Paso County, the Ascarate project list includes an outdoor stage with a covered pavilion, a three-mile walking trail, expanded pavilion parking, and upgrades to utilities and park lighting.
Design Work And Public Input
The county moved into the design phase after awarding a roughly $4.2 million design contract to Exigo Architecture in October 2025, KVIA reported. Additional local coverage notes that the county has rolled out an online survey and other outreach tools to capture resident priorities, including shoreline restoration, accessible restrooms, and a dedicated festival area. KTSM via Yahoo has summarized how those survey results are expected to shape upcoming design decisions.
Meeting Details And How To Take Part
The county's Facebook post promoting the second session lays out the agenda: a review of survey results from meeting #1, a discussion of key themes, and a look at fresh visual concepts for the entrance, festival area, trails, and lake shoreline, along with links to supporting documents. Residents can view the announcement on the county's Facebook page and visit the project hub at capital.epcounty.com for background materials and presentation files.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Ascarate Park Pavilion at 6900 Delta Drive. Those who cannot attend in person can still track the project by reviewing posted documents, signing up for updates, and browsing materials on the county's bond dashboard or the Parks & Recreation site, which also lists Ascarate Park's hours and rental information.
