Atlanta detectives are circling back to the community and asking for fresh eyes on a deadly shooting from the summer of 2021, hoping someone will finally help put names to two faces caught on camera. The killing happened on Aug. 5, 2021, near the 2100 block of Forrest Park Road, after what police say started as a brief verbal confrontation between people on foot and quickly turned into gunfire. The victim was rushed to the hospital and later died, and investigators are now re‑releasing images and suspect descriptions in hopes that a new tip nudges the case forward.
What Police Released
Investigators described one suspect as a Black man with dreadlocks past his shoulders and a medium build, wearing a white T‑shirt, denim jeans and black slides. A second man was described as wearing a black graphic T‑shirt, black pants and a black ski mask. Both were seen leaving the scene in a silver Ford Explorer. Those details and the images were released as part of the renewed appeal, according to 95.5 WSB.
Victim And Case Background
The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 22‑year‑old Lorenzo Capers of Stockbridge, and The Atlanta Journal‑Constitution reported he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead. The outlet noted Capers was a father and that investigators believe the shooting began after a short verbal dispute. Police said no arrests were made in the aftermath and the investigation remains open.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Department Homicide Unit at (404) 546‑4235 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling the CSGA tip line at 404‑577‑8477, online at Crime Stoppers, through the P3 app or by texting CSGA to 738477, according to 95.5 WSB. Cold Cases And Community Tips
Appeals like this highlight how often tips from neighbors and bystanders can revive long‑stalled investigations and sometimes lead to arrests years after a crime. The Atlanta Journal‑Constitution compiled a list of 2021 homicide victims that shows investigators are still working many open cases from that year. Police urged anyone with dash‑cam footage, surveillance video or other information related to this shooting to come forward so detectives can follow up.
