University City is getting a new dose of Vietnamese street food. 1368 Sweet Corner Cafe is expanding into the neighborhood with a second Charlotte location slated to open in late spring 2026. The new shop will move into the small strip that formerly housed Binki Cafe, bringing the brand closer to UNC Charlotte and nearby apartment corridors.
The owners shared the news on Facebook with a thank-you to regulars, writing, “Because of you, we’re growing,” and confirmed that the expansion will take over the 9211 N. Tryon St. unit. As reported by The Charlotte Observer, the new spot will replace Binki Cafe and is on track for a late spring 2026 opening.
What to Expect From the Menu
At its Steele Creek outpost, 1368 has built a following around a mix of Vietnamese street food and sweet treats. The menu features banh mi sandwiches, pho, Korean-style corn dogs, pork-kimchi fries, mochi donuts and a full boba lineup, along with coffee, fruit teas, tropical slushes and sugar-cane juice. The shop pairs made-to-order savory plates with quick grab-and-go sweets, a format that should fit a compact University City counter. The restaurant’s online menu lays out those items and ordering options on 1368 Sweet Corner Cafe.
Where It Will Fit
University City has been busy territory for small restaurants that cater to students and commuters, and the former Binki space offers a plug-and-play storefront close to campus life. 1368’s expansion adds another Vietnamese-fusion option to that corridor and gives the brand a second foothold outside its original Steele Creek location.
