Police launched a homicide investigation after discovering the body shortly before 3:15 PM, and officials say there is no suspect information at this time. The Sacramento County Coroner will release the victim's name once next-of-kin notifications are complete. Detectives stayed on scene into the afternoon as evidence was collected and the area remained taped off.

According to KCRA 3 News, officers were called to the intersection of May Street and Jessie Avenue shortly before 3:15 PM, where they found the man with fatal blunt-force injuries. The outlet reported that the coroner is withholding the victim's name until family members can be notified.
CBS Sacramento reported that homicide detectives have taken over the case. KCRA 3 News noted that there was no immediate information about a suspect or possible motive as the investigation got underway.

Homicide detectives are now leading the investigation, and officers first responded to the area just off Rio Linda Boulevard, CBS Sacramento reported. Officials have not released further details about what may have led up to the killing.
