A 74-year-old convicted sex offender is set to leave state custody and move into a Bristol residence next Tuesday, March 17, according to Kenosha County officials. Darryl L. Slater, who was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child, will return to the Village of Bristol under the terms of his supervised release. County leaders say the public notice is meant to keep neighbors informed and reinforce community safety.
In a news release, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office said Slater is scheduled to move to a residence on 214th Avenue in Bristol and that he is a lifetime registrant who will be subject to GPS electronic monitoring and the standard rules of the Supervised Release Program, according to FOX6 News Milwaukee. Officials described Slater as a white male about 5 feet 6 inches tall and roughly 220 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes.
CBS 58 reporting identifies the planned location as the 8100 block of 214th Avenue and notes that the sheriff's office issued the bulletin "to increase community awareness and reinforce public safety." Both outlets report that Slater must comply with lifetime sex offender registration requirements and all conditions of supervised release once he is back in the community.
How monitoring works
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections operates an Electronic Monitoring Center that provides GPS supervision for people on community release; the system can establish inclusion and exclusion zones and sends alerts if a device is tampered with or a boundary is breached, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Monitoring is used as part of supervised release and can prompt DOC or local law enforcement responses if violations occur.
What residents should know
Kenosha County officials say the alert is intended to inform, not to alarm, and are urging anyone with questions or concerns to contact the sheriff's office public information officer or non-emergency dispatch. Contact information for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office — including the main line (262-605-5100) and non-emergency number (262-656-1234) — is available on the department's website: Kenosha County Sheriff's Office.
For statewide context, the DOC's Division of Community Corrections reported 27,404 registrants on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry as of July 1, 2025. The department also maintains public resources for notifications and victim services, including tools residents and victims can use to receive release alerts, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Division of Community Corrections.
