Late Wednesday morning, March 18, what Charlotte-Mecklenburg police describe as an "assault with a deadly weapon" rattled the usually busy Sharon Amity corridor. Shortly before 11:30 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of S. Sharon Amity Road in the Providence Division, where they found a female victim with non-life-threatening injuries. Now, investigators are asking for the public's help to track down both a suspect and a vehicle tied to the case.
Detectives Seek Tips And Share Case Report Number
As posted by CMPD News on X, the case is listed under report number 20260318-1118-05. Investigators are asking anyone who might have seen something, or who has information about the suspect or vehicle, to contact Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or online at charlottecrimestoppers.com.
The department's social post notes that the victim's injuries are non-life-threatening, and detectives say they are hoping that community tips or video recordings can help them identify the vehicle and the person of interest connected to the assault.
ADW Numbers And Neighborhood Context
The CMPD Crime Statistics Report shows that assault-with-a-deadly-weapon offenses have ticked up in recent reporting periods, with the department noting that ADW crimes are up 4% and pointing a gun is up 8%. That rise helps explain why detectives are quick to canvas neighborhoods like the Sharon Amity corridor after violent incidents are called in.
Sharon Amity Corridor Has Seen Recent Incidents
The Sharon Amity corridor has been the scene of several serious investigations in the past few years, from deadly crashes to shootings. WBTV and coverage of a fatal shooting on North Sharon Amity Road have both highlighted high-profile cases along the north stretch of the road. Residents and business owners say the corridor stays busy, and CMPD's specialized units are a regular presence in the area.
