A pre-dawn patrol behind Cardoso Cafe in Brockton turned tragic early Sunday when officers found 28-year-old Lianes Brandao lying in the parking lot. He was rushed by ambulance to Brockton Hospital, then flown to Boston Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The discovery set off a joint investigation by Brockton police and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, which is still working to determine how Brandao was injured.
According to NBC Boston, officers on routine patrol spotted Brandao in the lot behind Cardoso Cafe, near the Royal Fuel station at Lincoln Street and West Railroad Avenue, shortly before 4 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to Brockton Hospital and then transported by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where he died.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is asking for the public’s help. Per the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, anyone with information is urged to call the DA’s unsolved-homicide tipline at 508-894-2584 or email [email protected]. Investigators told NBC Boston that witness accounts and surveillance footage point to a physical altercation involving Brandao and several other people. During that incident, Brandao was struck and run over by a motor vehicle that then left the scene, authorities said. The vehicle was identified as a gray 2013 Jeep Compass, and officials said the driver has since been interviewed. The state medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of Brandao’s death.
