According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the gunfire broke out around 12:40 a.m., when an unknown person fired multiple shots into a bedroom in the 3500 block of Alcoy Road after the victim sat up. The teen’s roommate drove him to the hospital and is being questioned as detectives searched the area.

Per Action News Jax, Jacksonville police responded to the mobile home around 12:40 a.m. after reports of gunfire. A JSO news release says the victim was struck once in the chest and once in the arm. According to that release, the teen heard noises, sat up in bed and then an unknown individual fired multiple shots in his direction.
