
A late-night argument inside a Westside liquor store erupted into gunfire early Saturday, leaving one man wounded and neighbors rattled. Deputies found an adult victim in the 1600 block of Hammond Boulevard with a gunshot wound to his wrist. Medics took him to a hospital, and the injury was not considered life-threatening. The suspected shooter took off in a white sedan, and detectives say the investigation is active.
According to Action News Jax, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Investigators told the station the victim and the suspect got into an argument inside Safari Liquor before the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot, hitting the victim in the wrist. The shooter then left the scene in a white sedan, and detectives said they are working to identify the person responsible.

The call came from the 1600 block of Hammond Boulevard on Jacksonville’s Westside, at a neighborhood liquor store. Business listings place Safari Liquor at about 1692 Hammond Blvd, which sits in the 1600 block, per MapQuest.
