Charlotte-area commuters may soon have a fresh lineup of neon-lit drive-thru coffee stands to cruise through on the way to work. A South Carolina investment group that recently teamed up with 7 Brew is sketching out a broad rollout across the Carolinas, and state filings point to possible sites stretching from Mooresville to Winston-Salem. The documents outline where new stands might rise along key commuter corridors near Charlotte, although construction timelines and opening dates were not listed in the filings.
WJ Partners announced an investment in 7 Brew in November and said it intends to open roughly 100 new locations across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, according to reporting by QSR Magazine. The sites will be developed by a new regional franchisee unit and overseen locally by Piedmont Beverage Co., the group WJ Partners set up to manage the roll-out.
Where Filings Say the Stands Could Land
State business filings reviewed by What Now Charlotte list multiple parcels tied to WJ Partners’ franchise plans, including 268 Brawley School Rd and 630 River Hwy in Mooresville, 1862 U.S. Hwy 70 in Hickory and 5952 University Pkwy in Winston-Salem. The outlet also lists filings in Greensboro, Clemmons and Mount Airy and notes that 7 Brew already has local stands in Albemarle, Denver, Shelby and High Point. What Now Charlotte reports it reached out to WJ Partners for comment and had not received further details when it published its report.
Who Is Behind the Big Push
WJ Partners created a franchisee group called Piedmont Beverage Co. to run the Southeast expansion and, per the company’s announcement, acquired two existing 7 Brew stands in Greenville, S.C., as part of the deal, according to PRWeb. “The drive-thru beverage category is exploding, and we believe 7 Brew is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this growing popularity,” Piedmont Beverage CEO Mark Robinson said in the release. WJ Partners has a track record investing in franchise concepts and lists brands like Eggs Up Grill among its holdings on the WJ Partners site.
What It Could Mean Around Charlotte
7 Brew has been one of the fastest-growing drive-thru concepts, reaching the 500-stand milestone in 2025, industry reporting shows. That kind of growth helps explain why groups are moving quickly to stake out parcels. The brand’s small, modular footprint and strong unit economics make it easier for franchisees to roll out many sites in a short time, according to Restaurant Dive. If WJ Partners follows through on its plans, residents should expect to see permit filings, construction notices and local hiring tied to the builds in the months ahead.
For now, the paperwork shows where new stands may end up but not when they will open. We will keep an eye on county permit portals and local filings for concrete timelines as the project moves forward.
