
A midday drive on Littleton Road in Chelmsford turned tragic Tuesday when a car left the roadway and crashed into a tree, killing the driver and briefly shutting down the busy stretch.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 12:30 p.m., and first responders rushed the driver to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to NBC Boston. Police have not yet released the driver's identity.
Littleton Road was closed for a period while emergency crews worked the scene, cleared debris, and investigators began sorting out what led the car to veer off the road and into the tree. The collision involved no other vehicles.
