Cloudy and 32°F at 5:40 a.m. ET Monday, March 2, 2026, Cincinnati rolled into the workweek under a Winter Weather Advisory as a wintry mix moved across the Tri-State. Snow, sleet and a brief shot of freezing rain are teaming up to make roads slick and commutes slow. The advisory runs until 11 a.m., and road crews expect conditions to improve by afternoon as temperatures climb above freezing.
What to expect this morning
Snow and sleet are likely before 10 a.m., with a changeover to a mix of snow and freezing rain between about 10 a.m. and noon, then a chance of rain and snow into the early afternoon, with a high near 37°F, according to the National Weather Service. New snow accumulations should stay under an inch for most, although a narrow corridor of heavier snow could see 1 to 2 inches in parts of the Miami Valley. Little or no ice accumulation is expected in most locations, but areas near and just south of the Ohio River have the best shot at a light glaze.
Travel and safety
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to be slick this morning, so drivers are urged to plan extra time and slow down on untreated surfaces. If you need to head out, check real-time road conditions at the Ohio DOT's OHGO site and use extra caution on ramps and hills. Local agencies recommend putting off nonessential trips until later in the day when the wintry mix transitions to plain rain.
Midweek warm-up and flooding risk
Temperatures rebound quickly, with lows near the upper 30s tonight and highs jumping into the 50s and 60s by Tuesday, along with rain likely through much of the week. Forecasters say a prolonged, warm and wet pattern will bring several rounds of rain and a growing risk of areal and river flooding late in the week and into the weekend. They advise keeping an eye on updates through Tuesday as storm tracks and rain totals for the week come into clearer focus.
