Nearly eight months after Chrishonda Ciera Wynn was gunned down while walking home in Over-the-Rhine, her family is still waiting for answers. Wynn, 34, was killed in a drive-by shooting in early August, and relatives say her children and extended family are still trying to navigate life without her. Her father says he has no plans to let the case drift into the background.

In an interview with FOX19, Wynn’s father, Chris Spivery, said he turned to social media after the killing and warned that “somebody knows something.” He told the station he worries the case has already started to fade from public view, but he is determined to keep pushing for tips and video that could help detectives.

Police: Search Continues

According to a Cincinnati Police Department media release, officers responded to the 1600 block of Republic Street at about 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2025, and found a woman with gunshot wounds who later died at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The release identifies the victim as Chrishonda Ciera Wynn and states that the Homicide Unit is actively investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the unit at (513) 352-3542.

Neighbors Demand Action

Local leaders say Wynn’s killing, which police say involved a gunman firing roughly 15 rounds from a passing vehicle, is part of a disturbing stretch of violence in the neighborhood. Maurice Wagoner, president of the OTR Council, told WLWT that the area north of Liberty Street needs more patrols. Family and friends later gathered at Washington Park for a balloon release to honor Wynn’s memory, as reported by WCPO.

How to Help

Cincinnati police are asking anyone with information, video, or tips to contact the Homicide Unit at (513) 352-3542, according to the Cincinnati Police Department. Investigators say even small details could be critical in identifying the shooter and bringing the family some measure of justice.

Spivery told FOX19 that an arrest would allow his family to begin healing and that he hopes a judge hands down “a stiff penalty” when the killer is caught. In the meantime, Wynn’s children and relatives continue to talk about her as a caregiver and the life of family gatherings, even as they wait for someone to come forward.
