A reported shooting at the Clackamas Town Center transit hub shut down the MAX Green Line platform and brought a heavy law enforcement response to the busy mall area, according to riders who suddenly found their commute on pause.
According to a post from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office on X, deputies closed the platform while they investigated a reported shooting at the Clackamas Town Center transit center. The agency said no injuries were reported and there was no known danger to the public.
The Clackamas Town Center Transit Center, TriMet's southern Green Line terminus, is located at 9225 SE Sunnyside Road and links MAX service with several bus routes, according to TriMet. A platform closure at the site can interrupt Green Line service to the mall, and riders should consult TriMet's real-time alerts for updates.
Local social posts and a neighborhood Reddit thread described a heavy law enforcement response and temporary transit disruption, with users reporting shuttle buses and delays as deputies worked the scene. Reddit collected several firsthand accounts from people who were at or near the mall.
Background
Clackamas Town Center has seen other shootings in recent years, from a December 2024 parking-lot shooting that left one person injured to the deadly 2012 mall attack that killed two people. Prosecutors and local media covered the 2024 case in detail, and national outlets reported on the 2012 incident. OPB and the Los Angeles Times have published reporting on those events.
Investigators remained on scene while law enforcement worked to secure the area and interview witnesses. Officials did not immediately release details about any suspect or motive. TriMet's service pages remain the best source for up to the minute information for riders.
This story will be updated as officials release more information and as TriMet posts service changes. Anyone who was near the transit center and saw what happened is asked to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office to share information.
