Baltimore police flooded a Johnston Square block last night after reports of gunfire near a neighborhood mini market, turning a quiet stretch into an active crime scene. Officers arrived just after a 9:05 p.m. call and spent the evening combing the storefront area for clues while neighbors watched from doorsteps and windows. Investigators focused on a minivan parked nearby, photographing a bullet hole punched through the driver’s side window.
According to Fox Baltimore, Central District detectives concentrated their search in front of the mini market, documenting the vehicle and the surrounding scene in detail. The station shared a photo gallery, with images by photographer Maggie Ybarra, showing officers working the block as the investigation unfolded. WBFF noted it was still gathering additional information about what led up to the gunfire.
Scene and evidence
The latest incident lands in a neighborhood already on edge. Johnston Square has weathered other serious shootings in the past year, including a fatal March 2025 case that triggered a public plea from police for tips and renewed worries over safety in the area. Coverage of that earlier killing and the investigators’ call for information was detailed in 31-year-old woman fatally shot in Johnston Square.
Police and tips
WBFF reported that its newsroom was still working to confirm whether anyone was struck by the gunfire or taken into custody as detectives processed the latest scene. Police have not yet released additional details about potential victims or suspects.
