Court Street is about to get a serious day-to-night hangout. Brewd, a new coffee shop and tap house, is set to open in April on Court Street, promising a spot where morning espresso and evening beer share the same bar. Co-owners Rodney and Janine De Iorio plan to pair locally roasted coffee and loose-leaf tea with rotating draft beers and Southern California-inspired snacks like carne asada fries and California-style breakfast burritos. The café is taking over a long-vacant storefront at Court Street Plaza and aims to serve as a neighborhood third place where people can linger from early morning through last call.
The husband-and-wife team, Southern California natives who moved to Cincinnati during the COVID-19 pandemic, have cooked up a cicada-themed brand that plays on the words "brood" and "brewed." They say they hope to "turn strangers into neighbors," according to Cincinnati CityBeat. That coverage also notes Brewd is slated to open in April and plans to keep hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with Tuesdays limited to morning service.
Hours, address and hiring
Per Brewd's website, the shop lists a downtown address and a "NOW HIRING Bartenders, Baristas & Line Cooks" notice as it builds out the space. The site also uses the phrase "Coming to Cincinnati 2026" and provides an email for contacts and applications.
Coffee, tea and local taps
Brewd plans to serve locally roasted coffee from La Terza and tea from Churchill's Fine Teas while pouring 18 local beers on tap from breweries including Rhinegeist and MadTree, as reported by Cincinnati CityBeat. Churchill's maintains a stall at Findlay Market and supplies loose-leaf blends to cafés and restaurants across town, and the owners say the drink lineup is meant to showcase Cincinnati's brewing and roasting scene alongside their California-inspired menu.
Events and neighborhood programming
Brewd's events calendar already lists programming such as Expert Talks, described as a Profs-and-Pints-style night, along with Books @ Brewd, Barstool Briefings and trivia, with details noted as "coming soon," per Brewd's events page. The owners say these activations are part of an effort to create a living-room vibe, think board games, puzzles and long conversations, rather than a quick in-and-out café. The events page frames the programming as ongoing community activations that will be fleshed out after opening.
If Brewd hits its target, the shop will join other newcomers filling Court Street's storefronts and add another all-day option for downtown residents, students and office workers. The owners are hiring now and say they will post final opening details on their site and social channels as plans lock into place.
