A usually quiet Dade City block turned into a crisis scene Friday after a woman was savagely attacked by multiple dogs, leaving her in critical condition, according to county officials. Pasco County Fire Rescue crews rushed in, stabilized the victim, and had her airlifted to a regional hospital as neighbors frantically tried to pull the animals away and called 911.
According to FOX 13 Tampa Bay, the attack happened at 37439 Fiesta Dr., where seven dogs from the property were seized and taken to Pasco County Animal Services for quarantine. Pasco County Fire Rescue told reporters the violent encounter remains under active investigation.
Neighbors Describe Terrifying Scene
Next-door neighbor Lourdes Estrada told FOX 13 Tampa Bay she heard panicked screams around 11 a.m. and ran outside. "It was terrifying. I was shocked and freaked out," she said. Estrada recalled seeing the woman lying face-down as several dogs continued to bite her while the homeowner struggled to yank groups of dogs away from the victim.
Dogs Quarantined As Investigators Follow Leads
National outlets later picked up the emergency dispatch details. Yahoo News reported that Pasco County Fire Rescue confirmed the victim was flown from the scene by helicopter and that authorities have not yet released her identity. Officials have not commented on what may have triggered the attack, and investigators are still working the case.
Neighbors Say Concerns Had Been Raised
Other residents told reporters they had seen dozens of dogs on the property over time and said they previously raised concerns with law enforcement about the animals. County agencies are urging anyone with video, photos, or information about what happened to contact local authorities while the dogs remain in quarantine and investigators sort out how a routine late-morning in this Dade City neighborhood turned into a life-or-death struggle.
