A 56-year-old woman died after an early-morning house fire in Bensalem on Tuesday, authorities said. Fire crews were flagged down by a man outside the Bellview Drive home and went inside to find the woman unconscious in the kitchen. Medics attempted life-saving measures, but she could not be revived. The man at the scene was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and firefighters kept the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, first responders were dispatched to the residence on the 2700 block of Bellview Drive at about 2:45 a.m. Firefighters pushed in through the front door and located the woman, later identified by police as Christine Toal, in the kitchen area. EMS crews worked to resuscitate her at the scene but were unsuccessful, and police said the cause of the fatal fire remains under investigation.
Two Deadly Fires Hit Bucks County Hours Apart
The Bensalem fire broke out only hours after a separate three-alarm blaze in Bristol Borough that officials said damaged several neighboring homes. Regional reports said fire crews from across Bucks County were tied up on both incidents through the night, which stretched mutual-aid resources during the early morning hours. Those reports also noted that both fires are under investigation by county and local fire officials, according to WPST.
Investigation Ongoing After Overnight Blaze
Bucks County investigators and the township fire marshal are expected to examine the Bellview Drive home to pinpoint where and how the fire started, NBC10 Philadelphia reported. Crews secured the property once the flames were fully out and checked surrounding houses for any damage or lingering hazards. Officials have not released additional information as the investigation continues.
