Deputies say a drug drop disguised as eczema cream did not make it past the Henderson County Jail last Saturday, and two women from Eustace ended up in handcuffs. Authorities identified the suspects as 36-year-old Megan Chapman and 47-year-old Shannon Boyle.
What deputies say they found
Narcotics investigators and K-9 deputies report that the seemingly ordinary cream tube was anything but. Inside, they say they discovered multiple individually wrapped small balloons in various colors that tested as suspected cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and several illegal pills.
Investigators believe the package was meant for two inmates, 38-year-old Jessy Pierce and 45-year-old Joshua Sallings, both of Mabank. According to deputies, Boyle admitted she had methamphetamine and a glass pipe in her purse. A follow-up search at Chapman’s residence in the 11000 block of County Road 2918 in the Eustace area reportedly turned up tools and packaging used to conceal drugs, along with meth, marijuana and THC gummies, according to KLTV.
How deputies say they stopped the scheme
The sheriff’s office says narcotics investigators and K-9 deputies intercepted the handoff as part of a focused probe into trafficking around the jail, stepping in before any of the suspected contraband reached the intended inmates. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, which lists its administrative address and jail contact information on the county sheriff page, handled the arrests and bookings. Henderson County Sheriff’s Office officials, based in Athens, provided information to investigators.
Charges and bookings
Chapman and Boyle were booked on felony counts that include manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility. Boyle was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Chapman was booked into the Henderson County Jail on a $300,000 bond, while Boyle’s bond was set at $250,000, per reporting from KLTV. The two inmates who were allegedly the intended recipients were also charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance and related counts in addition to their existing charges.
What happens next
The cases are pending and will move through the Henderson County criminal system, where prosecutors will review the evidence and determine formal filings. The sheriff’s office says the broader investigation into local narcotics trafficking that led to the interception is still ongoing.
