Tampa woke up today, under a low lid of clouds and patchy fog, with early morning temperatures sitting in the low 60s. By mid-morning, though, the sun should break through and warm things up to around 79°F, setting the stage for a pretty ideal day to be outside.
What To Expect This Week
After Sunday, temperatures trend warmer and stay that way. Highs climb into the low 80s tomorrow, then push into the mid 80s by Wednesday and Thursday. Most days look mainly dry, with just a slight chance of brief inland afternoon showers on Tuesday, and again later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Morning Fog, Mostly Sunny Afternoons
Low clouds and patchy fog will be a recurring early morning theme, lifting a few hours after sunrise. Once it clears, skies turn mostly sunny by late morning. Drivers can expect some reduced visibility and a few damp spots on side streets early, but lunchtime errands and outdoor plans should feel comfortably warm and bright.
Breezes Pick Up Midweek
By midweek, a strengthening subtropical ridge will turn winds more easterly to east-northeasterly, bringing a steady onshore breeze each afternoon and evening. That setup could help push shallow afternoon showers from the eastern peninsula inland and send in an evening surge of easterly winds, which may create choppy conditions for smaller boats, according to the National Weather Service.
Plan Ahead
If you are heading to the waterfront, a light jacket will come in handy for the cooler mornings, and it is worth securing loose outdoor items before those breezier evenings. For most Tampa residents, the next few days will feel more like early summer than early March, so sunscreen and plenty of water make sense for daytime plans, while an umbrella should only be necessary for the occasional inland afternoon shower.
