Police in the Bronx are hunting for four men after a 43-year-old was pistol-whipped and robbed inside a Fordham tax-preparation office in the middle of the afternoon, turning a routine errand into a violent holdup.
The assault happened on March 4, just after 2:30 p.m., inside a Webster Avenue business. Witnesses told officers the suspects punched the victim multiple times before taking off. Investigators say the crew caused about $6,000 in damage and grabbed an unknown amount of cash before speeding away in a gray Nissan sedan with North Carolina plates.
Police Details and the Investigation
According to authorities, one of the suspects struck the victim with a handgun during the robbery, and detectives have not yet identified or arrested any of the four men involved. Investigators are canvassing nearby businesses along Webster Avenue, working to pull surveillance video and track down eyewitnesses to piece together the full sequence of events, as reported by News 12 New York.
Webster Avenue Crime Pattern
The Fordham holdup lands on a growing list of recent armed robberies along the Webster Avenue corridor. Earlier, a gunman pulled off a daylight hold-up at a 7-Eleven that netted about $1,500, an incident detailed in coverage of the daylight Fordham 7-Eleven heist. On March 5, another victim was robbed at gunpoint near East Gun Hill Road, a case reported by Norwood News. Police have been circulating images and urging residents and business owners to check surveillance and doorbell cameras for anything that might help identify suspects.
