Memphis police are on the lookout for a driver they say opened fire during a Feb. 25 run-in outside a convenience store in the Douglass neighborhood. The person targeted in the encounter was not hit, but their vehicle was struck by bullets as the shooter took off.
Officers were dispatched a little after 3 p.m. on a shots-fired call at a convenience store on Chelsea Avenue near Pope Street, and later located the victim at Warford Street and Interstate 40, according to Action News 5. The victim told officers he first saw a man outside the store holding a gun. That man allegedly pointed the weapon at him, then followed as the victim drove away and fired, hitting the vehicle. Police say the suspect was last seen in a gray Nissan Rogue heading along Pope Street away from Chelsea Avenue.
